Low Trap Progression

An imbalance in your trapezius muscle, resulting from reciprocal inhibition, can cause the upper portion to dominate the rest which in turn can lead to everything from headaches and neck pain, to poor shoulder health. Strengthening your lower trapezius is an effective way to reduce this imbalance, decrease pain and improve overall shoulder health.
 

Here’s a video from Dr. Jason Lemieux of Physiomed Oakville that demonstrates how to activate the lower portion of the trapezius muscle with two progressions from the basic movement:
