Victor VongphakdyPhysiotherapist/Clinic Director PT, BSc (Hons), MPT, CAFCI
Victor (he/him) graduated with honours from York University in 2004 with a degree in Kinesiology & Health Science. He received a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy form D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY in 2007. As a member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for 15 years, Victor has since dedicated much of his time developing advanced treatment skills, improving his knowledge base, and has improved the successful outcome of his patient’s conditions as a result. Since graduating Victor has become a registered provider of medical acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute since 2010, and has also completed his training in advanced acupuncture through the Gunn IMS (intramuscular stimulation). He has successfully completed his level 1 in manual therapy and served as both a board member for the Orthopedic Devision of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and has attended numerous continuing education courses including Spinal Manipulation, Cranio Sacral Therapy (CST), Selective Functional Movement Assessments and evidence-based Lumbar treatment techniques to name a few.
Julian (he/him) is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. He began his post-educational journey in 2013 at Humber College where he obtained a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion. He continued to advance his education at the University of Guelph-Humber, obtaining a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Kinesiology, graduating at the top of his class. Finally he arrived at McMaster University where he completed his Masters Degree in Physiotherapy in 2020.
As a former professional athlete and personal trainer, Julian understands the importance of exercise and general body movement, putting this aspect of rehabilitation at the forefront of his treatment style. Furthermore, he also understands the benefit that manual therapy, acupuncture and other hands-on treatments can provide for his patients. He enjoys using a multimodal approach, as well as working alongside his colleagues to treat his patients from a wholistic perspective. Throughout his experience, he's worked with a variety of patients ranging in ages, health conditions and cultural backgrounds. He is constantly striving to learn more in his field and come closer to becoming a master in his trade.
Why did you get into this career? "With a history of injuries myself, I came to understand how debilitating it can be to experience pain and movement dysfunction on a constant or intermittent basis. When I was injured, all I wanted was to return to my previous state of function, and I realized the impact that a good healthcare support system had towards my goals. I want to allow my patients to play sports again, or be able to pick up their children again, or achieve any other goals that they may have from a rehabilitation standpoint."
Outside of the clinic, you'll most likely see Julian dancing, playing various sports, or going on hikes. If he's not outside, then he's probably spending time with his family or his two cats, which he calls his 'sons'. One of Julian's greatest accomplishments was being a dancer on Team Canada in 2013 and travelling to Denmark to represent his country in the international competition of dance.
