Dr. Katie MaloneBSc, DC Chiropractor and Clinic Owner
Dr. Katie Malone graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Laurentian University, and decided to continue her studies at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Dr. Malone has competed at the Provincial and University levels as a point guard in basketball, and continues to participate in organized sport as a way to have fun and stay fit. As clinic owner since 2002, Dr. Malone's focus is to facilitate healing by creating and maintaining a positive environment that patients look forward to returning to.
Dr. Jiyeon KimHons BSc (Kin), DC Chiropractor, Acupuncture Provider and Clinic Director
Dr. Jiyeon Kim is a certified chiropractor and acupuncture provider. She holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology from University of Waterloo, and a Medical Acupuncture Certificate from McMaster University. Dr. Kim’s passion for chiropractic grew with her natural instinct in helping people. She provides individualized, evidence-based, collaborative care to help patients reach their optimal health. Dr. Kim believes in empowering patients by educating them on their health and wellness. She also enjoys playing volleyball, rock climbing, and yoga.
Dr. Guru KandasamyBSc, MD, DC, CCFP Sports Medicine Physician
Dr. Guru Kandasamy is a licensed Sports Medicine Physician who has established himself as an integrative health practitioner in Toronto, combining his extensive training as a physician, acupuncture provider, chiropractor, & kinesiologist.
Before earning his medical degree, he obtained his Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, & became certified in Medical Acupuncture at McMaster University. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Michigan State University, with a special focus on Sports Medicine. Dr. Guru is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto where he holds a Clinical Academic Appointment in the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
Dr. Guru is board-certified in Medicine & Chiropractic in both Canada & the US, and has served on the medical staff of several professional sports organizations, caring for elite athletes in the OHL, MLB, NFL, CFL, in addition to Canadian & Division-1 NCAA collegiate teams. His clinical expertise includes the multidisciplinary management of acute & chronic injuries, complex spine pain, autoimmune musculoskeletal diseases, sport-specific injuries, custom orthopedic bracing, regenerative medicine with Platelet-Rich Plasma, viscosupplementation for osteoarthritis, & musculoskeletal procedural ultrasonography.
His patients are active in a variety of recreational activities, from tennis & aquatics to wrestling & wheelchair basketball. He educates his patients about their injuries, shares findings from examinations and imaging studies, and determines the most effective & up-to-date treatment options. He provides referrals to orthopedic surgeons & other specialists as needed & works with his patients to help prevent future injury & illness. Olga GalvisRMT Physiotherapy Resident
Olga is an internationally trained physiotherapist specialized in Manual Therapy and currently registered as a Resident Physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Prior to joining Physiomed in 2018 Olga worked in the public and private health sector in Colombia as well as university professor supervising students during their internships. After moving to Canada in 2017, she completed acupuncture training at Mc master University and module I and II of Mulligan concept. Her patients can expect improved well-being through hands-on techniques, guided exercise, education on on-going self-management and physical self-awareness. Olga is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Marina Segalla Physiotherapy Assistant
Marina received her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Brazil, in 2010 and concluded a Residency Program earning a Specialty in Child Health in 2017. With over 8 years of experience in treating musculoskeletal, neurological and respiratory conditions, she has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including rehabilitation clinics, pediatric hospital, Pilates studios and community health. She has been trained in the Pilates Method and Mulligan™ Manual Therapy Concept. She is passionate about using her knowledge and skills to help patients progress through their rehabilitation and recovery process, combining a compassionate approach, exercise and education. Marina is bilingual in English and Portuguese.
