Dr. Katie Malone graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Laurentian University, and decided to continue her studies at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Dr. Malone has competed at the Provincial and University levels as a point guard in basketball, and continues to participate in organized sport as a way to have fun and stay fit. As clinic owner since 2002, Dr. Malone's focus is to facilitate healing by creating and maintaining a positive environment that patients look forward to returning to.
Simone StellaClinical Manager CAT(C), B.A. Hons. Kin
Simone graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology (Hons.), continuing his education and achieving a Certified Athletic Therapist designation. Simone’s approach to therapy is patient-centered, he encourages personalized care, and has had excellent results with this style of treatment. Simone is passionate about getting people back into their optimal function, and is excited to see patients returning to their daily activities. Simone has been involved in multiple sports as an athletic therapist, first responder, athlete and coach for numerous years, generating a strong passion and diverse knowledge about the sport world and healthy living. In addition to working with the health experts at Physiomed, Simone also works with the Wheelchair Rugby Canada national team.
Pooja PopatPhysiotherapist
Pooja is a passionate Physiotherapist who believes that each client and their injury is unique. She uses her skills in manual therapy and exercise prescription to tailor each therapy session. She and our Physiomed team believe in taking an active approach to therapy and encourage clients to participate and become active members in their recovery. During her four-and-a-half year Bachelor degree in India, Pooja found her main interest to be in musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation and women's health physiotherapy. Soon after graduation and before moving to Canada for further studies, Pooja worked at a private physiotherapy clinic for almost a year. In her free time, Pooja enjoys keeping herself active with a dash of determination by yoga, hiking and travelling. Pooja is also a big nature lover, enjoys sunshine and beach. She is multilingual. She speaks Gujarati, Hindi and English.
Dr. Guru KandasamySports Medicine Physician BSc, MD, DC, CCFP
Dr. Guru Kandasamy is a licensed Sports Medicine Physician who has established himself as an integrative health practitioner in Toronto, combining his extensive training as a physician, acupuncture provider, chiropractor, & kinesiologist. Before earning his medical degree, he obtained his Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, & became certified in Medical Acupuncture at McMaster University. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Michigan State University, with a special focus on Sports Medicine. Dr. Guru is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto where he holds a Clinical Academic Appointment in the Department of Family & Community Medicine. Dr. Guru is board-certified in Medicine & Chiropractic in both Canada & the US, and has served on the medical staff of several professional sports organizations, caring for elite athletes in the OHL, MLB, NFL, CFL, in addition to Canadian & Division-1 NCAA collegiate teams. His clinical expertise includes the multidisciplinary management of acute & chronic injuries, complex spine pain, autoimmune musculoskeletal diseases, sport-specific injuries, custom orthopedic bracing, regenerative medicine with Platelet-Rich Plasma, viscosupplementation for osteoarthritis, & musculoskeletal procedural ultrasonography. His patients are active in a variety of recreational activities, from tennis & aquatics to wrestling & wheelchair basketball. He educates his patients about their injuries, shares findings from examinations and imaging studies, and determines the most effective & up-to-date treatment options. He provides referrals to orthopedic surgeons & other specialists as needed & works with his patients to help prevent future injury & illness. Tùlio GalvaoPhysiotherapy Assistant
In 2016, Portuguese and Spanish speaker Tulio, completed his Bachelor's Degree of Physiotherapy at the University of Goiás(PUC), in Brazil. He continued his education studying orthopedics, traumatology and postoperative care. He also worked as a volunteer alongside his professor for 4 years, gathering a breadth of knowledge related to therapy. Tulio is proficient in manual therapy and target exercises. He is empathetic towards the well being and health of all his patients.
