When we think of hip pain, we often think of a tightness or a lack of flexibility that restricts movement and leads to pain while performing specific functions. However, while tightness can be a factor so too can a lack of strength or stability. As a ball and socket joint, our hips rely on a number of small muscles to provide the strength and stability needed for proper functioning. When these muscles are weak, the result is poor movement patterns (bio-mechanics) and increased stress on the surrounding muscles which creates stress, strains and general weakness that can even lead to injury.
