As the weather improves, one of the things we see quite often in our clinics is a rush of Achilles tendon/ lower leg injuries. In most cases, this is due to people engaging in activities involving running, jumping or pivoting without having the necessary degree of flexibility or range of motion in their calves or ankles. The good news is that these types of injuries are almost always preventable.
In the following video, Dr. Jason Lemieux of Physiomed Oakville demonstrates how to gauge the level of flexibility/range of motion you have in your lower legs and how to increase this level of flexibility/range of motion in order to avoid or recover from an injury:
