Eating a diet that is full of healthy foods is extremely important and making these foods taste delicious is much easier than most people think. When you eat plenty of wholesome, nutritious foods, the benefits are endless. Not only will you have better control over your weight, but you will also have improved digestion, a healthier immune system, a more focused mind, and plenty of energy to power you through your busy day.

Eating healthy can actually taste good!

There are plenty of natural ingredients derived straight from Mother Nature that actually taste good, plus they are packed full of all the nutrients that your body needs to stay healthy and thrive. When included in your daily meal plan, they not only help to create a more nutritious diet, but they also make your food taste great – adding lots of extra flavors and keeping you satisfied all day long!

Try adding some of the following foods to liven up your favorite meals:

Fruits – Not only do fruits add a rainbow of color to your diet, but they also contain natural sugars to help sweeten up any dish without all of the added calories that refined sugars have. They are also packed full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals and are high in fiber.

Honey – Honey is a natural sweetener that adds just the right amount of sweetness when used in moderation. It also contains antimicrobial properties that can help support your immune system and has high levels of antioxidants.

Nuts and seeds – Not only do nuts and seeds make for an easy-to-grab snack, but they are also high in protein, fiber, and healthy fats, meaning that they will keep you satiated and keep hunger at bay.

Dark chocolate – For those of you with a chocolate craving, dark is the way to go. Chocolate that has a cocoa content of 80% or higher is packed full of antioxidants, flavonols, and other nutrients to give your health a boost.

Avocado – These little green gems are made up of healthy fats, are high in fiber, and contain ample potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C. They also have a rich, creamy texture that makes them the perfect base for dips and spreads

Fruit Smoothie

A fresh fruit smoothie is a great way to start your morning or can make for the perfect snack to get you through an afternoon slump.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Peach, sliced
  • 1 Mango, sliced
  • 1 cup of soy or almond milk
  • ½ cup of orange juice
  • 10 ice cubes

Mix in a blender and enjoy! Feel free to use either fresh or frozen fruit and use freshly squeezed or all-natural orange juice. You can also try out this recipe using different fruits like berries, bananas, or pineapple. If you're feeling extra adventurous, why not add a handful of spinach or kale for added nutrients?

Breakfast Bowl

This breakfast bowl is full of protein and contains many micro and macronutrients to give you all the fuel you need to start your day off right. Plus, it tastes delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of all-natural Greek yogurt
  • ½ tbsp natural honey
  • ¼ cup of granola
  • ½ cup of fruit (try fresh berries or half of a banana)

Add the yogurt to a bowl. Top with granola and fruit and drizzle with honey. Try adding other healthy ingredients to this bowl to boost up its nutritious power. Flaxseed, chia seeds, and nuts can make great additions. Enjoy!

Dark Chocolate Trail Mix

This is the perfect snack to take with you on the go. The nuts add lots of protein to keep you feeling full, and the dark chocolate adds just the right amount of flavor to satisfy any sweet tooth. This recipe makes enough to keep you snacking healthy all week long!

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of dark chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups of dried cranberries
  • 1 cup of raisins
  • 1 ½ cups of sliced almonds
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup of pistachios

Mix all ingredients together in an air-tight container and enjoy! Feel free to substitute nuts for your favorite variety or add other dried fruits like apricots or figs.

Avocado Veggie Dip

Avocados have a rich flavor and a creamy texture that make them the perfect base for a healthy dip alternative. Serve this fantastic dip with crudités, crackers or use it as a healthy and delicious sandwich spread on whole wheat bread with all of your favorite toppings.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado, skin removed
  • ½ cup of Greek yogurt
  • ½ of a lemon, squeezed
  • 1 chive, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp of milk (can substitute with almond or soy milk)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mix all of the ingredients in a blender, pulse until well combined and then store in the fridge in an air-tight container.
